Piano Man

Who is THE piano man?

Is it Billy Joel? What about Elton John? Or maybe it’s Andreas Grassl, the German found dressed in a soaking wet suit and tie wandering the streets of Sheerness in Kent?

The piano man could also be your local piano tuner/technician or piano teacher?

The piano man could actually be any of the above.

But, in my opinion, the piano man is, and always will be, Billy Joel.

The Piano Man – Billy Joel’s Greatest Song

Billy Joel was one of the world’s most popular song writers. He wrote a number of hits in his time, but his most popular – by a long shot – was the piano man.

This incredible popular song starts off with a harmonica solo which was inspired by Bob Dylan. When I am feeling down I listen to it – and it never fails to put me in a good mood. You can check out a video of the piano man here

The Piano Man – Elton John

Elton John sang the piano man many times in his career and many say that he is the real piano man not Billy Joel.

You can see a video of Elton John AND Billy Joel performing the piano man here:

The best place to buy a CD, or MP3 of the piano man is from Amazon.

You can also get the piano man ringtone from most piano ringtone websites. I don’t have experience of this, so I cannot recommend any at the moment.

The Piano Man - A German man found soaking wet, wandering the streets of Sheerness in Kent dressed in a suit and tie.

Who is he?

His name is Andreas Grassl.

Andreas was picked up by local police and put into a mental home. He was unable to communicate.

Andreas was named ‘The Piano Man’ because he started to draw pictures of grand pianos. He then sat down at the piano and played for hours on end. The patients at the mental hospital where he was staying, described him as a musical genius.

The truth came out later that he was, in fact, not a professional pianists by any means and he kept on playing the same note on the piano over and over again.

It was revealed that the piano man wanted to commit suicide just before he was picked up by police.

Later, the piano man was said to have been sent back to his native country Germany.

The Piano Man - Internationally acclaimed virtuoso pianist and 100-concert-a year performer Richard Meyrick.

His PianoMan programme, generously sponsored by Man Group plc, currently takes Richard to 191 schools serving mostly the less-privileged areas of Great Britain. The wonderful feedback from the schools has enabled his making of two DVDs and four CDs for free distribution to some 12,000 youngsters and Richard has been enabled by his sponsors to bring more than 20 young players to London for lessons with him - their fees and expenses all paid.

Finally….

The Piano Man is your local piano tuner, technician or teacher.

To get your piano tuned or repaired – call your local piano man.

Here is a list of piano tuners and technicians and here is a list of piano teachers.
