The difference between the CLP-S306 and CLP-S308 is the keys: The CLP-S306 doesn't have wooden keys.

Assembly

The piano comes flat-packed and is very easy to assemble. The electronics and keyboard are fixed in - all you have to do is assemble the stand. There are only 4 screws that fix the stand to the keyboard and 4 more to fix the stand together.

I do advise two people to do the job though - purely because of the keyboard's weight - It is heavy and safer to have a helping hand when lifting it on to the stand.

Questions

Dear Graham,

I am interested in the piano rental scheme.

My 11 year old son has just taken grade 1, but is practicing on our old Rogers piano that is in dire need of reconditioning.

I am interested in a digital due to the ability to adjust volume and also plug in headphones.

Essentially my enquiry is really to ask which of the Yamaha models is comparable with the classenti CDP3? I am mindful that the Yamaha Clavinova CLP320PE Polished Ebony is available from Gear4music for £1104 - this is cheaper than the Classenti CDP3, but I'm not sure where they stand next to each other in terms of quality. I would be grateful for your advice on this.

Many Thanks

Nick

Reply/ Hi Nick

The direct comparison with the Classenti CDP3
would be the Yamaha CLP-S306.

You can read some info about it here:
http://www.ukpianos.co.uk/yamaha-clp-s306-pe.html

The Yamaha CLP-S306 is a better piano, but, at
almost double the price, you don't get much
more for your money.

To compare with Yamaha's Clavinova range I
would put the Classenti CDP3 in between the
CLP340 and CLP370.

The CDP3 certainly has a beautiful, deep tone
that sounds more 'piano-like' than the Yamahas.

The key weight is also excellent on both CLP340
and CDP3...

The Classenti has a tad more weight to the key,
which brings it closer to a real grand piano's
key resistance.

The Yamaha CLP340 is slightly more responsive
though.

A difficult choice! And only one you can make.

Yours pianistically,

Graham Howard
