“Graham, you saved me £1,150 !”
I bought the Yamaha CP33 stage piano, for £749. Thanks to your advice booklet I saved myself from making a very expensive mistake ! I was going to buy another Yamaha piano for £1,900 then realised I didn’t need 300 sounds and hard disc recording !

Hello Graham, thanks for your email.
I found your digital piano bible extremely useful. I had already carried out some research on the topic but your bible summarised everything succinctly in one document as opposed to my handwritten notes on various sheets of paper!
I took some piano lessons in my final year at university some 25 years ago but never continued as I started work soon afterwards but would like to revisit learning to play. My preference would be to learn on an acoustic upright piano (as at university) but now think a digital piano may be a good option. My main concern, as I will be buying a second hand one, is whether there is any underlying problem with the used digital piano – I am not convinced I would be able to tell as I cannot play (yet) ! With this in mind however, if I go down this route, I do plan to buy one from a store rather than privately and go for a Yamaha Clavinova or Roland which seem to be a good choice from your bible.
I was actually visiting my sister over the Christmas period near Liverpool and she mentioned a friend had recently bought a second hand digital piano for her daughter from a store called Sulinda. I noticed they were listed in your bible and had a look at their website and they appear to have a fair selection. Looking at models, although quite old, the CLP340 caught my eye in terms of and budget.
By coincidence, I actually live in Daventry and know of your store because I take my car to get serviced at RSD next door to you. Made a mental note to pop in to have a look and chat but as I drop my car off quite early and pick it up when they close, the opportunity never quite arose.
Best regards
Max
Reply/ Are you planning on being in Daventry anytime soon?
Sulinda pianos are really basic.
I don’t recommend them really, because the key
keys sensitive enough.
Broadway EZ-102 or BW1 models.

First of all just to say your passion for pianos really shines

“I now feel that I can talk the talk”
Hi Graham,
Thanks for your book – it is packed full of useful information and I have found it amazingly useful. I now feel that I can talk the talk in a piano shop – if only I could play the notes as well!

Hi Graham
Thank you so much for your book. It was an absolutely massive help!

“It has been very helpful indeed in deciding which piano to buy”
Hi Graham
I did get the book, thanks, and have read it all. It has been very helpful indeed in deciding which piano to buy, and in fact we have decided to hang fire for the time being, as the amount we’d planned to spend would have been a false economy, so we’re going to wait until either we can afford one worth buying or search among our muso friends to see if anyone’s thinking of upgrading theirs anytime soon.
Excellent service, many thanks, and best wishes for 2010.
Kind regards, Michael
“Your kindness and expertise has travelled far and wide”
Thanks for all your help you come across as a decent, honest, genuine, trustworthy, sincere, caring, thoughtful and dependable fellow. Your kindness and expertise has travelled far and wide, across oceans, over mountains, and now has come to me in good old run down Bradford… Thank you Graham.. Goodbye my friend and farewell… John
“It is without doubt the best advice I have ever seen on this subject”
Hello Graham
I must say that when I ordered your book, I didn’t expect to see something so comprehensively informative.
I teach both keyboard & piano so my instrument has to be able to deal with both aspects. I chose a Yamaha CVP305 & I believe it to be an excellent choice. In fact, most of my keyboard pupils end up wanting to play more piano than keyboard!
Although I knew some of the things in your book already, I also learnt a lot too. This will help when I am giving advice to my pupils when they want to buy a new instrument.
It is without doubt the best advice I have ever seen on this subject. I will need to make sure I always have the latest version as the market is, of course, constantly changing.
Thank you & best wishes, Richard
“I have been checking some of the sites you recommended and am almost sorted”
Hi Graham,
Your book is a mine of information for which I am very grateful. You certainly seem to know your digital pianos.
I had a number of lessons some years back but didn’t practice enough and have now forgotten most of what I learned. I now want to try again but we think our old piano may have the dreaded woodworm so we have condemned it in favour of digital.
My 3 year old granddaughter also likes to plonk on our old piano so it may come in useful for her. I have been checking some of the sites you recommended and am almost sorted.
Thank you for your information and knowledge.

“Thanks for your information”
I am considering, at the moment, a Casio AP200, which I have had recommended by a music shop in York.
I am not an accomplished pianist and (in my opinion) do not play any better than when I was in my teens, which is 50 years ago! So I am not interested in anything too complicated, i.e. accompaniments, drums, syncopation etc., etc. I just want a sound of a piano!
Thanks for your information though!

I had piano lessons as a 10 year old,I then turned to football so gave the lessons up.
I am now in my late 80 s and using a 61 key keyboard to learn again.
I am not quite happy with the piano sound on the keyboard, so I am looking to buy a digital piano around the 4 to 500 mark, it looks like your advice is for me.
thank you, Harry.
