“It’s great to have so much wisdom condensed into on place!”
Hi Graham,
Thanks for the email. Your book is very helpful. I knew some of this but there are other bits that wouldn’t have occurred to me, so it’s great to have so much wisdom condensed into on place!

Hi Graham
I have now read most of the book and it is excellent in going through the technical issues, so thanks very much for taking the trouble to write it and make it available to people like me.
It is fascinating to see that the manufacturers of digital pianos have done so much to try and replicate a decent acoustic piano. Until I read your report I hadn’t realised that this was possible.
Many thanks

Hi graham, thank you for the book – I have downloaded it in order to advise pupils who may want to buy a keyboard rather than a piano. It seems very thorough and informative. Many thanks for your work.

Hi Graham, Thank you for your follow up. Quite honestly, as an experienced muso I only had a very superficial interest in what you had produced. And when my printer indicated in excess of 70 pages, I ‘pulled the plug’.
Some others may well find it useful. But a little more in the way of brevity would be of benefit!
Good luck. Gerry

Dear Graham,
Thank you for putting the book together. It cleared up question I had about digital pianos and covered many areas I haven’t considered at all. So when the time comes for me to buy my first digital piano, I’ll be fully prepared.
Thanks again for your hard work.
Best regards,

One of the best pieces of advise I got from your “7 Things” guide was to “stand at a distance and get someone to play”. I had been doing it almost exclusively myself and mostly just using the headphones. Your idea makes absolute sense but it just never occurred to me. Thank you so much.

we found the information in your book absolutely invaluable in helping us narrow down what we were looking for and how to recognise it when we found it! Probably the most important aspect were your helpful remarks about what attributes the piano MUST have, like Graded Hammer Action and so on, if it is to be regarded as anything like good.. This enabled us to discard a huge number of the pianos we were originally looking at as well as tipping the scales when we had our final shortlist. we actually felt as though we knew what we were talking about!

Hello Graham,
I actually found your book very helpful indeed! We opted for the Yamaha YDP-141 and I got a huge amount of info from your book.
I am actually now based in Germany and looked at a couple of others, like the Broadway for example, but I could not find anywhere to get these in Germany. I was thinking of the Yamaha P95b as well, but when you have paid for the pedals and extras, it was only about 100 euros cheaper that the YDP-141 and we got a great deal with headphones, piano stool etc, so I thought why not go for the slightly better one.
Thank you for your follow up. Great website and very helpful book, couldn’t have done it without you!

Liam

Dear Graham,

They have been really helpful in helping me to create a short-list, and in alerting me to things I should check and consider when trying the pianos out. Hi Graham,
I found it so useful and consulted it many times throughout my decision making. I was buying one as a Xmas present for my partner so really struggled not to ask him for hints and tips without ruining the surprise so your book was a godsend!
I went for a Roland HP101 E in the end due to budget restrictions and I got a great deal on this second hand. I wouldn’t have had the confidence to buy this with you and your reviews.
Thanks again,

“UK Pianos know what they are talking about”
Hi Graham
This is a my honest opinion:
It is very rare to see somebody who has inside information, knowledge and knows pianos really well to share this information with public. If I would like to buy piano in UK this place will be my first choice. I bought my new digital stage piano somewhere else, because I had extremely good price (still well over £1000) and I understand electronics. Information which I was given from ukpianos was vital for my decision and it fully corelate and extend information which I collected over last 25 years (my first electronic keyboard was Roland alpha juno1)
It is possible that you could buy your instrument cheaper somewhere else – especially if you are lucky and know a lot about instrument which you are buying (it means a lot about design, build quality, reliability and life expectancy of used mechanical and electronic components). If you are not strong in this and if you do not have time to do your own research, you will not make mistake if you let ukpianos to advice you. They know what they are talking about.
My friend who is selling second hand cars (a lot of them) told me one sentence which I believe applies at ukpianos as well: if you are selling something and you have a lot of it, it is better for you to sell more things with smaller profit then trying to sell only one with big profit.
Kind regards
Daniel

Hello!
I have just good words about Graham.
I was living in Australia and just was looking information about digital pianos in internet. I used to play an acustic piano for more than 15 years but then stopped for 10 years…so I wanted to re-start playing again and I didn’t really know anything about digital pianos….also I was so far away from home. It was amazing how Graham send me his own score wich compares all the brands and models to help me choosing which suits me better.
It was really useful for me and I appreciate that, above all because he didn’t just help me because of selling….the prove is he knew that I was in Australia and finally I wouldn’ buy my piano in his shop.
I think he’s a great piano’s lover.
Thanks!
Regards,
Ana.

Hi Graham,
I downloaded the information after I had been looking for a digital piano for 2 weekends as I thought it was difficult to make a choice. I found your information extremely useful and I have taken notes so I can take it with me when I go and try out the Yamaha CLP 430 again. I do have to say that I find it ashame that there isn’t much middleground, at least not in the shops that I have visited in the South-West. The Arius I think is too tinny and the CLP220 sounds too muffled so the only choice I have now is to go for the more expensive digital piano. Not sure if I would ever use all the features on it but I did like the sound of the 430. I’m going back this weekend to see if I haven’t changed my mind after playing on the other two pianos.
Thank you again for your help.
With kind regards,
Nicole

Dear Graham Howard
I found the information you kindly supplied in your free downloadable information guides on digital pianos extremely useful & informative. I have referred to them regularly & I am most grateful to have such a comprehensive guide to the digital pianos on the market & buying advice. Thank you very much for making them available for download. Also they were so comprehensive I had no queries to raise with you! I also read & noted your further information emails including those detailing pianos in your Sale.
I have still not purchased a digital piano as, for personal reasons, I have found my exact requirements somewhat difficult to finalise. Currently they still are, but I do anticipate I will eventually reach/make my decision about buying a digital piano though, as yet, I do not know when that will be exactly.
However, thank you again most sincerely for your assistance to date. I have really appreciated all the piano information supplied in your downloads.

Hello,
I appreciated your well written, detailed, and extremely informative information on digital pianos. We ended up buying a Roland V Piano and you also gave me some suggestions on where to purchase this in the States as well as what websites to be wary of.
Unfortunately, i don’t have any contacts in the UK who are looking for a piano and can buy from you. Many thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise with the world.

“Without using this guide, looking for a new digital piano would have been like stumbling around in the dark”
Before buying my piano, I download UK Piano’s “7 things you need to know before buying a digital piano” guide. Without using this guide,
looking for a new digital piano would have been like stumbling around in the dark, clueless of what to look for! Thanks to this guide, I was able to make an informed decision when it came to choosing which piano was for me. I recommend a good read to anyone in the process of looking. Thanks Graham!”

Hello Dear Graham,
A year ago I find your “7 things you need to know before buying a digital piano” very useful when purchasing both my Yamaha DGX-640 electrical piano. Thank you very much for your so clear advices on piano which were very informative and interesting. When I went to the store I could ask my questions using an “expert” terminology and it was effective and make me the selection very enjoyable!
After all, the selected piano is just what I need and enjoy very, very much!
Many, many thanks!

Thank you so much for all the information! From your guide I was able to buy a Yamaha P35 yesterday. It’s a present from my dad to my mom to keep in their recreation vehicle when they travel for several weeks at home. Your guide was SO helpful; I especially appreciated the information on what I needed to look for as far as “touch” and weighted keys. I even did the 6 point test on the keyboards in the store! The guide gave me more confidence in what I was buying.
I was looking at the Yamaha NV 80 but wasn’t sure if the “spring” action rather than weighted keys would work as well.
You may not be good at ‘computer’ stuff but your advice was invaluable!

Hi Graham,
Thanks for the email. I found the book incredibly useful, it answered all of my questions about the important points to consider when buying a digital piano and clarified which points are less critical. I’m a beginner player so it is good to be able to discount certain features as ‘not really relevant to me’.
I also found your tips on what to look for when buying a used unit very helpful. I’ll be buying a digital piano (new or used, unsure yet) in the next few weeks and your advice will be invaluable.
I live in Australia so the UK content was irrelevant to me, however if I were in the UK I would definitely consider buying my first piano through ukpianos.
I – and I’m sure many others also – very much appreciate you making your vast experience and knowledge freely available to us all.
Regards,

Hi Graham
I received your email and the link to your book which we have opened and read with great interest. Thank you for making the booklet available. It really has been (is being) helpful as we educate ourselves on digital pianos.
As we live in Halifax Nova Scotia, our next step is to see what is available in our local piano store(s) as well as online. We do wish the Classenti line was available in Canada, but we are currently interested in starting our physical search by looking at the Roland RP301 and the Yamaha YDP models in the local stores.
We are a retired couple lining in an apartment with a few years separating us from our last piano lessons and no expectations of doing more than having some fun but we do want a DP that sounds and feels more like a piano than a toy. We think your boolket has given us a good place to start and I am sure we will be referring to it a few times as we progress through our search.
Thanks for sending it along

“There can be no surer way of purchasing a digital piano”
In all my years of trawling the internet reading reviews covering all manner of products, I have never come across a site that not only has all the facts you are ever likely to need to know about the subject matter (in this case, digital pianos), but also does an amazing job of presenting this information honestly and openly in a style that is very easy to read and understand. But what is even more remarkable about the UK Pianos website is that you are positively encouraged to contact the author direct (via email or telephone) to discuss issues that are specific to you. It really is like having your hand held by someone who will listen to all your queries, however basic they may be, and who will give an expert – and truthful – answer. There can be no surer way of purchasing a digital piano that’s just right for you than by following Graham’s advice.
