“Which piano to buy? Look no further ….
“7 Things You MUST Know Before You Buy a Digital Piano”
Speaking as a parent of 2 daughters who are progressing through their piano gradings, I had no idea which piano/keyboard to buy for our home. I came across the name Graham Howard via online search engine. Graham’s expertise in this field made the task so much easier, explaining piano terminology and breaking down the options into eg. brand popularity, budget, value for money, pros, cons, all the things that the average person needs to consider to make their decision. Graham’s easy-to-understand document is a joy to read and I would recommend this to anyone looking to purchase a new or used piano.
Thanks again Graham.

Dear Graham,
I felt that your analysis, comparisons and suggestions were comprehensive, impartial and very helpful – particularly in my case where trying out a variety of digital pianos would involve t least 200 miles travelling and probably 2 or 3 days away.
In effect, I felt confident that you had done the shortlisting for me….at which point the local Starland Music brought the Technics back to reliable functioning.
I still appreciate your helpfulness.
Yours sincerely….John Sterry

“An essential reference website”
This site is an excellent way to research a full range of pianos and keyboards. I used it to produce a shortlist of pianos I was interested in before trying them out in nearby shops. The information is well presented and shows exactly what you need to be looking for in an electric piano.

“Top advice for confused piano buyers”
Graham promotes his pianos on the basis of a customer’s need, about which he is very sensitive, rather than pushing the most expensive pianos at you. His enthusiasm is infectious, his knowledge extensive and he clearly loves pianos – heart and soul.

“Helpful and informative”
The web site was a great help in working out what we wanted and why – for our purchase of a digital piano. As a complete music ignoramus – we wanted a piano for our 10 year old daughter to continue her lessons – the site and Howards book and scoring, with the explanations was really helpful. We later had a problem with the piano that Howard helped to resolve. Thanks again

“Howard had been a wonderful help in helping us buying a piano for our grandchildren”
Even though we live in Canada and Howard could not sell us a piano (climate difference) he assisted us to the end deciding what piano to buy. My grandson is now taking lessons and his little sister is using it too. I have no idea about pianos and I appreciate his enthusiasm and wonderful advice.

Graham,
Thanks again for your advice. I don’t have a Facebook account. The main things I liked from your book were where you mentioned features in a lot of digital pianos that were not really important to have. That’s helps since you can eliminate comparing these items and also maybe not purchase a feature that has little or no merit.

“Don’t buy until you read it!”
Graham Howard’s Piano Guide is an unbiased invaluable resource, don’t buy until you read it!
UK Pianos has a terrific selection of pianos at very reasonable prices. I am still trying to decide between the Yamaha CLP440, Kawai CA65 and Roland HP505 and without the help of the Piano Guide I would not have even made a shortlist. Hopefully I will have settled on one soon.
I would happily recommend UK Pianos for pre-sale advice and maybe soon will comment on my purchase too.
Kind regards

“The information contained was in my opinion about as unbiased as one can be”
I have found the report written by Graham to be very informative and useful in selecting the piano purchased. The information contained was in my opinion about as unbiased as one can be.
In my opinion Graham managed to outline the facts as they are and assist the reader to make an informed choice. What matters and what doesn’t (in his opinion) was pretty accurate insofar
as a piano plays sounds, and if you need it be be exactly like something you’re familiar with (I.e. a Steinway Grand Piano, then he helps you to understand what you need.
Conversely, if you’ve never played a piano before, there are many features you would not need, so he points them out. Upon selection of the piano I finally purchased, I was armed with
what I wanted, went out to buy and looked at the cost.
Thanks

The information you provided on assessing the key elements for choosing a piano have been most useful. Likewise your score system has been found, prima facie, objective and trustworthy.

“The actual purchase-action took about 10 minutes”
About the digital piano guide that I downloaded from your site.I recommend everybody with plans of purchasing a (digital) piano to download and read this guide. For me personally, although I already had an idea about what brand and model I wanted to buy,it confirmed most of my ideas I had about digital pianos and explained a couple of things like dynamic levels, what level of polyphony you need,….which were not so clear to me till then.Very interesting reading and again a must-read for every potential piano-buyer.
The by product of reading this guide may have been the fact that the actual purchase-action took about 10 minutes which is about the time the vendor needed to do the paperwork

I had piano lessons as a 10 year old,I then turned to football so gave the lessons up.
I am now in my late 80 s and using a 61 key keyboard to learn again.
I am not quite happy with the piano sound on the keyboard, so I am looking to buy a digital piano around the 4 to 500 mark, it looks like your advice is for me.
thank you, Harry.
