“Very useful suggestions on what makes a good digital piano”
I wanted to buy a piano for my wife.
I have no idea about pianos or playing them.
I do know how to research.
I found UK Pianos break down of the key elements of pianos simple to understand and I found the rating system a useful tool to comprehend what I was potentially buying and how to get value for money.
Naturally I researched UK Pianos and Graham Howard as well.
Naturally I found many different attitudes towards UK Pianos and Graham; it is a competitive market place!
Living in Australia, buying a piano from UK Pianos was never going to be an option and yet Graham gave me his time and the benefit of his experience.
A man and a business that shares ideas and promotes the things he loves is surely worth considering if you are looking to buy a piano.

The methodology of why I chose my piano is all down to UK Pianos. No question that I would have ended up with something else (not as good) without their help. Great work! Many Thanks!

“Without this guide I wouldn’t have got the best digital piano for my money”
I felt like I really knew what I was doing in my local music shop by testing all the digital pianos the way it’s described. Also the top ten guides narrowd down my choice significantly. The best thing is the positive effect buying a piano has had on my lessons. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this guide to you.

“Graham Howard is an expert on all things Piano!”
I was researching a new digital Piano and Graham Howard from UK Piano’s really helped me out. His freely available material proved invaluable for researching the subject. I would have bought the Piano I ended up with from him, but he sadly didn’t stock that model. Still that just goes to prove how impartial his advice is, that I would end up buying a Piano that he didn’t even stock on his recommendation (and from a supplier he recommended too!). Graham Howard is a legend and therefore so are UK Piano’s by association!

“Very useful in helping me reach my decision”
Hi Graham
The guide to buying a piano (7 things you must know…….) was extremely useful: it gave me a robust framework for comparing different pianos, as well as being refreshingly honest about the author’s views – most other shops are unwilling to provide such a qualitative comparison across types and makes.
I also email Graham with a specific question about my choice of piano: the response was prompt, specific and very useful in helping me reach my decision.
Thanks again for your help.

“Graham did not want you to buy unless it really matched what was needed”
I asked questions by e-mail and received very prompt and helpful replies from Graham Howard. Having a comparison of a large number of instruments whose specifications read the same, based on how they actually feel & sound, saved a lot of legwork. We were able to go to the shop and try out several instruments. There was no pressure, no ‘only today’ offers and a definite feeling that Graham did not want you to buy unless it really matched what was needed.

“It gave me clear info what factors should I take into account selecting my first piano”
Hi Graham,
I’ve found your internet UK Pianos VERY useful. It was the best source of information I was looking for – easy to follow and very consistent. It gave me -as a first piano’s buyer- very clear info what factors should I take into account selecting my first piano. It also helped a lot with not choosing too sofisticated one with too many extras and features I would never use. One would never get such comprehensive and still professional advice from any salesmen in any music store. A section with keyboards comparison re. key touch/sensitivity was specially usefull for me. After reading your brochure I was quite confident what I was looking for, what was important for me, what was not – while buying my keyboard.
After one month of playing my Yamaha P-95 I played real upright piano CALISIA. Touch and sound exposure was very similar, and it was even easier to play acoustic piano rather than DP. I think it gives a good opinion about digital p. vs. acoustic ones.
Afterwords playing d.p. is a good fun for me, much better than I have thought and I would expect.
Thank you Graham for a great job.

The information and advice from UK Pianos was very helpful, particularly in explaining the meanings and the implications of the numerous jargon terms on digital pianos.
This enabled me to really understand and rank the available products according to what was important to me.
My daughter now has a piano that suits her perfectly and I am pleased that I made a good choice.
Excellent. Thank-you

“Informative and extraordinarily comprehensive”
Hi Graham
I’ve found your book very informative and extraordinarily comprehensive. It has helped me turn away from the idea of buying a used piano from Ebay and instead to strongly consider buying the recommended Broadway piano.

“Excellent piano guide”
I wanted to buy a piano for my son in primary school. I have no music training and was clueless about pianos. Graham’s piano guide helped me to learn about different models and what to look out for.
I bought a mid range yamaha which is perfect for our needs.
Thank you very much for the guide, without which I would have been lost.”

“UK Pianos offer the best in-depth advice available from any retailer of digital pianos”
They provide a superb analysis of ALL the digital pianos on the market and provide great detail about all aspects of the instrument – not just the technical stuff, but things which players relate to i.e. tone, key feel and weighting, how many watts do you need etc etc. All this was invaluable to me in making my final short-list and saved me many hours trekking round piano showrooms. It was only because I live in Scotland that I didn’t make my final purchase from them as I didn’t choose to buy such an important item on-line.
Most impressed.

“A trusted source of information and helpful advice”
Graham Howard’s advice via ‘7 Things You MUST Know Before You Buy a Digital Piano’ and the ‘Howard Score’ are really one of the few sources of unbiased and knowledgeable guidance available.
As a first time digital piano buyer, the information and tips on what to look for were extremely helpful. All the characteristics that make a traditional piano the accepted yardstick need
pointing out when it comes to buying a digital version – so ‘feel’ and weight of keys, action, amplification, sampling, etc. – all play a vital role. Follow this up with a visit to the
showroom and you’re well on the way to making a decision based on some solid facts.

I had piano lessons as a 10 year old,I then turned to football so gave the lessons up.
I am now in my late 80 s and using a 61 key keyboard to learn again.
I am not quite happy with the piano sound on the keyboard, so I am looking to buy a digital piano around the 4 to 500 mark, it looks like your advice is for me.
thank you, Harry.
