Play it as a normal upright piano, or move the lever and it plays silently through headphones. This is basically an acoustic piano with an additional digital feature.
When on silent mode, a rod stops the hammers from hitting the strings. There are sensors under each key which transmit the sound digitally.

Thank you for your advice and assistance in purchasing our Broadway piano. It is the perfect combination of real acoustic piano alongside having the possibility to use earphones and hear a digital piano sound which still responds to touch.
