Questions
“Baby Grand needed!”
We’re looking to rent a baby grand piano (acoustic) having managed to now make some space!
Keen to understand what you have in stock or to order and understand the process, I’ve had a look online and all looks pretty simple.
Please could you let me know the best way to proceed.
Reply/ Dear Rob
We have a couple of baby grand acoustic pianos in stock:
Zimmermann and Classenti AG1.
The Zimmermann is a decent baby grand piano that was
made in East Germany (most likely in the 1960’s).
It has a warm, mellow tone and nicely weighted,
response keys. It is in a mahogany cabinet.
This is £125 per month on the Rent to Own programme.
The Classenti is a more modern baby grand in a
polished black finish. It’s less than 10 years old and in
excellent condition.
This is £225 per month on the Rent to Own programme.
Either piano is good to learn and progress on up
to the higher grades.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Kind regards
Graham Howard
Further/ Hi Graham,
Thanks so much for getting back so quickly.
I like the Classenti, I actually had one previously (before the kids took the space with toy boxes!) so love the tone of them.
Re the rental, do you only offer 12 months or is 24 then the purchase an option?
Further reply/ Hi Rob
Yes, the Classenti has a really lovely tone and sensitive key feel.
We offer the first 12 month’s rental only towards the purchase price.
There is also a 20% deposit that counts towards the price.
You could leave a larger deposit or increase the monthly rental
if you think you might buy it at the 12-month point.
Kind regards
Graham Howard

“Looking for a rrefurbished digital baby grand model”
Dear Graham,
Thank you so much for getting back to me.
We’re still looking so no, you’re not too late!
It’s actually for my boss and I have no idea about pianos.
Which would you recommend?
We’re definitely looking at refurbished digital baby grand models.
Many thanks and best wishes.
Reply/ Hi Karen
The Broadway is the nicest to play.
It has wooden keys and a warm, natural tone.
It’s the closest to a real piano both in sound and feel.
We have this in polished white available as an ex-display
in excellent condition (about a year old).
If he prefers black, then I recommend the Kurzweil MPG100.
This is a brand-new piano.
It also has a full, resonant tone and nice responsive key touch.
The Broadway BG1 is in polished black and is an older
version of the BG2.
It’s 3-4 years old and has been refurbished.
It doesn’t have the wooden keys, but other than that
it’s similar to the BG2 and would be a good piano to
learn and progress on.
Kind regards
Graham Howard

Question/ Hello Graham,
My son is grade 3 standard and is really keen on a baby grand now that we have moved into a bigger house and have the room for it. Also i am hoping to start to learn as well. So looking for a good option for both of us.
I have seen the Broadway BG2 on your website and am looking into either buying it or going for the rent to buy option if you think this might be suitable for us both?
Can you please clarify some points:
1. It says free delivery if I buy. Does this including setting it up?
2. If I rent I see there is a delivery charge. Is that included along with the rental payments if we buy it after 12 months?
3. Spending this sort of money I would ideally like to see it in the flesh before buying it. Do you have one at your show room? We live just outside of Portsmouth. Is there anywhere nearer I can see one?
Thank you for you assistance.
kind regards
Reply/ Hi Keith
Hi Keith
We only have brand new ones, boxed, available.
The Broadway BG2 is not on display at the moment.
We have the following baby grand digital pianos on display in our showrooms:
Enfield (North London)
Broadway MK11 (this is similar to the BG2, but has additional self-play),
You could go and try it out and get a feel for the key touch and sound.
It’s more or less the same as the BG2.
Northamptonshire
Broadway MK11 (self-playing)
Broadway MK10 (self-playing, previous model)
Kurzweil KAG100
Kurzweil MPG100
The Kurzweil MPG100 is also a nice piano. It is the same price as the BG2.
The advantage of the BG2 is its wooden keys. This is the most realistic
digital grand piano at its price point.
Delivery is not refundable on the rental.
Delivery includes assembly both on a purchase and rental.
I don’t know of any places near you that has the BG2 piano.
If you take it on the rent to buy then you can try it out.
It has a beautiful sound and feels just like a real acoustic
grand piano. I recommend it as an ideal piano for your
son to learn and progress on through the piano grades.
It will take him up to the highest level (grade 8).
Let me know if you would like to reserve one.
We have one of each colour in stock (polished black, polished white).
Kind regards

Hi
I have owned a Roland HP 737/747 for about 15 years. It is a baby grand. I feel I am ready to upgrade to another digital baby grand. I would like to buy an ensemble piano. I am an intermediate pianist who plays for personal enjoyment so the last word in acoustic authenticity is not vital for my untrained ear.
A piano I have had my eye on is the Orla 500gp. While this seems readily available in Europe it is not available here. I believe it can be readily imported to a dealer by Music Alliance if you are a member. I wonder if you have any experience of this piano and can give any advice. Are you someone who could import it?
Do you have any other digital baby grand you can recommend? How does the Broadway compare with a Yamaha or Roland?
Many thanks
John
Reply/ Dear John
I do know the Orla digital grand.
It has a nice tone, but the key touch is only weighted,
so it doesn’t feel heavy enough to resemble a real piano.
We wouldn’t be able to import this either.
If you would like some similar, but with more resistance
on the keys then I recommend for you the Kurzweil
digital grands: KAG100 and MPG100.
You can see them here:
We also have a second hand Broadway BG2, which
is a professional level digital baby grand.
This would be similar to a Roland or Yamaha,
but even more realistic due to its wooden keys.
Let me know if any of these interest you.
Yours pianistically

“We need a digital baby grand for our daughter”
I’ve been looking about your site for some time but thought it best to email you to get some information!
I am looking for a digital piano for my daughter.
She has been learning on a digital keyboard but now needs to progress to pedals and 88 weighted keys.
We would really like to get her a baby grand (has to be digital due to underfloor heating and space!)
but our budget is no more than £1300.
Firstly, do you have any available in that price range and also, I can see from your reviews you are
very honest in your opinions, what would you recommend?
With thanks, Lucy
Reply/ Hi Lucy
We don’t sell digital baby grand pianos in that price range.
Anything less than £2000 would be a piano that has only
a medium-weighted key touch and limited touch sensitivity.
I really don’t advise learning to play on anything like that.
The lowest price baby grand we do is the Kurzweil KAG100.
You can see this here
This has fully-weighted keys and a warm, resonant tone.
The keyboard has 4 dynamic levels, so you can play
with different volume levels on each key.
Having a good touch sensitivity is essential when learning.
Kurzweil digital pianos have a Steinway sound.
The tone is rich, warm and sonorous.
We offer this on a rent to buy for £85 per month.
With the first 12 month’s rental going towards the price.
Just one other recommendation… I’m not sure what
sort of space you have, but we do a slightly longer
baby grand digital piano called the Kurzweil MPG100.
You can see this here
This piano has just today been reduced on a final offer.
There are only 2 left in stock now, so let me know
if you’d like to go for this.
I can hold it for you with a small deposit.
Yours pianistically

I found what you sent me very lucid, essentially jargon-free and easily accessible. I couldn’t find anything on digital grand pianos (I’ve not long parted with my acoustic grand piano!). So my question – is a digital grand worth considering in terms of sound?
Cheers – Stewart.
Reply/ Hi Stewart
A digital grand, generally, will give a fuller, more resonant tone.
This is due to its larger speakers (there is more space to put this),
the number of additional speakers and tweeter, and the
larger acoustic resonating box.
Would you like some recommendations?
What is your maximum budget?
Kind regards
Graham

Hi
Due to the coronavirus situation impacting the opening of shops and showrooms at the moment I am not sure if you would be able to help with this enquiry, but I am interested in purchasing a new piano in the near future.
I am assuming that stock levels are something that are also being affected by the outbreak of the virus, but I was wondering whether you have any grand pianos available at the moment? It would need to be a baby grand because my room is too small for anything larger. I would be particularly interested in the Yamaha GB1K or the equivalent Kawai model, as these are around the price I can afford, or any make of reasonable quality. I would consider a used piano if it was in excellent condition and had been well maintained. My budget is about £8500.
If you are still trading and delivering pianos during the current crisis, I have a couple of questions. Firstly, what would happen if I were to buy an instrument without being able to try it first, and didn’t like the tone and/or action after it had been delivered and was in situ? And secondly, as I have a piano already, are you able to offer any part exchange deals at the moment? How would that work, given the guidelines on social distancing, assuming someone would have to do a valuation of the instrument I want to trade in? I am located in Luton, Bedfordshire.
Thank you for reading this, and I look forward to hearing from you in due course.
Best wishes,
Peter
Reply/ Hi Peter
We don’t have any acoustic grand pianos in stock
at the moment.
The only grands we have are digital.
Some of them (particularly the Broadway BG2
and MK11) have wooden keys and feel very close
to playing a real piano.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi there
Gear 4 music have their GDP 100 and I wondered whether that fared as a good comparison against the Yamaha and Roland which you have highly rated
Thanks
Ruth
Reply/ Hi Ruth
I am sorry to say that the GDP100 is not at all comparable
to a Yamaha or Roland.
The main thing is the feel of the keys. The key touch
is too light, and there is hardly any response on the keys,
so it is not possible to put enough expression into the music.
Let me know if you would like some recommendations.
We offer digital baby grands also on the Rent to buy programme.
Kind regards

Hello Graham,
I have just retired and have also retired from my semi-pro keyboards job as resident in a Northern Club.
It went down to one night a week and the scene in social clubs is dying and has been for years now.
I just need to get back to having a good keyboard (piano) at home and sell the rest of my gear.
A digital piano would suit me as it gives me the feeling of still playing with other musos and for this reason alone I want a good quality Digital Piano , preferably mini Grand or Baby Grand with the full works.
What’s your opinion of the Kurzweil range of Digital Pianos Mini and Baby size. I’ve played Kurzweil synths in the past and they have been first class but I don’t know about the pianos so perhaps you could advise me .
I would be looking for a piano in December so if you can advise and even supply at the time I would be interested .
In the meantime please resend the link I should have downloaded and printed out.
Regards and thank you,
Noel
Reply/ Hi Noel
I would like to recommend you some very nice
digital baby grand pianos.
Our best sellers are:
Broadway BG2 and Kurzweil MPG100.
The Broadway is the nicest overall. It has wooden
keys and sounds lovely.
The Kurzweil MPG100 is our most popular and
good value for money.
And the Kurzweil KAG100 is the smallest, and best
looking as my mother often said to me ;-).
Let me know if you would like more advice.
Yours pianistically,
Graham Howard

What do I need to do to make a piano upload music to play it?
Is there an app that takes a CD or something?
Or what’s the method?
Is there an iPad app or similar you can upload or convert music to play?
What sort of price would I be looking at for a black grand self playing grand?
Do they keep their value and resell?
Do they need maintaining other than tuning?
Delivery and install coat to Lincolnshire?
Regards, Nick
Reply/ Dear Nick
The digital self-playing grands have either a USB stick or SD card.
Any MIDI file can be downloaded onto the stick/card.
This can then play on the piano.
The self-play grand pianos are £10,995 for a brand new one (Broadway MK11).
Alternatively, we have a 2 year old ex-demo model (Broadway MK10) going for £7,995.
They don’t need tuning or maintenance because they are digital.
Delivery and install costs £299.
Yours pianistically
Graham Howard
