Questions and Comments
I’m looking forward to buying a piano for my daughters, 12 and 7. After research I thought I already found a proper one: Hemingway DP-501 MKII, but then I’ve seen your review… and I’m not so sure anymore… Another I considered was Thomann DP-32, could you advise which of them is a better option?
Or maybe I should look at other brands? The budget is below £500, and one of the requirements is the piano to look ‘stylish’ 🙂 (hence the options above^).
Thank you in advance for any hint!
Reply/ Hi Radoslaw
The problem with both the Hemingway and Thomann
pianos is the key touch.
Although they are weighted, the key touch is too light
and don’t resemble a real piano.
I might have some second hand digital pianos here that
are more suitable.
Would you like some recommendations?
Also, where do you live?
Kind regards
Graham Howard

Dear Sir,
I am buying piano and I don’t know what is the best I can get for the money
I have.
I am interested in Hemingway dp-701 pb. I would like to hear about your
experience with this piano.
I also don’t know the difference between Hemingway dp-701 pb, Hemingway
dp-701 rw and Hemingway dp-701 at.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Reply/ Hi Klemen
The Difference between those models is only the colour.
RW stands for rosewood, etc.
This piano is selling for around £600 – £650. For
what you get, it’s overpriced…
The quality of sound is not as good as the equivalent
Yamaha (YDP140), or Kawai (CL25), or Classenti (CDP1).
And the touch is similar to pianos around the £350 –
£450 price range.
I advise going for the Yamaha CLP320, or Kawai CN22.
I know they cost quite a bit more, but in the long
term you’ll be happier with the better quality sound
and touch.
If it’s the polished ebony finish you’re after then
the Classenti CDP2 would be the absolute best choice
under £1,000.
Yours pianistically,
