Dear UK Pianos,
I am looking to buy a second hand acoustic upright piano for my son. He is working towards Grade 3 so I would like something that is suitable to take him all the way to Grade 8. Up until now he has been learning on a Yamaha P45 digital piano, but has said that the feel isn’t the same as a ‘proper’ piano.
I would also like a fairly compact instrument.
Is there anything in stock that you can recommend please? My budget is up to £1,500 approximately.
Reply/ Dear Ceri
Here’s two pianos I would like to recommend for your son:
Chappell and Fuchs & Mohr.
They’re both compact pianos and suitable for up to grade 8 level.
The Chappell is the most compact out of the two.
It has a responsive touch that’s suitable for
any level of playing. And it has a pure, clean tone.
The Fuchs & Mohr has a fuller, more mellow tone
due to its larger cabinet.
It’s key touch is marginally heavier than the Chappell.
Again, it’s suitable for learning to play right up
to the highest level.
Let me know if you have any questions or would
like to reserve one of these pianos.
Yours pianistically
Graham Howard
