“Great for playing classical pieces”
After a careful decision and saving up money, I decided to purchase the Gewa UP 365 before 6 months ends on the rental programme.
It has been a great piano to practice my classical pieces.
Thank you for recommending this model, I really like this piano.

Questions
“Please recommend a digital piano for all grades”
Hello Graham,
Hope you are doing well. I had purchased a Broadway EZ102 from your store a few years back when my daughter had just started taking lessons. Now that she is ready to do her grade 5 I would like to buy her a decent digital piano. Could you please recommend one which could help her complete all her grades and is not too big to take up a lot of space in our hallway. Also, could we part exchange our Broadway EZ102? It has been taken great care and is in excellent condition.
looking forward to hearing from you.
Reply/ Dear Sonali
I am very well thank you.
Glad to hear that your daughter has reached grade 5.
I recommend looking at two pianos from the Gewa range.
These digital pianos are made in Germany and have a
Steinway piano tone.
They’re both suitable for grade 8 level.
The pianos I recommend for her are the Gewa UP365 and UP385.
These are both brand new models recently released.
They both have wooden keys and feel close to playing
on a real piano, so she’d find it easy to transfer to a
real piano at any time.
The UP385 has a wider range of dynamics than the UP365.
You can put more expression into your music and it
reacts more responsively to the touch.
It also has a fuller and warmer piano tone.
Of course we can part ex-change your EZ-102.
You’re welcome to come and see the Gewa pianos
in our Enfield store.
Yours pianistically,
Graham Howard

Can you tell me what the differences are between the UP 365 and UP385 please?
Reply/ The UP385 has a wider range of dynamics than the UP365.
You can put more expression into your music and it
reacts more responsively to the touch.
The UP385 has larger speakers than the UP365 (an extra 10 watts)
which adds to the depth of tone and resonance so it
sounds fuller and more natural.

“Do digital pianos suffer from damp the way my upright does?”
Dear Graham,
I have a thirty year old Fuchs and Mohr upright which has been a really nice, bright sounding piano. However, the last four years have been a disaster. Every winter the keys stick and I have to pay someone to come and fix it. Twice he has taken the action away to re-pin it and this has cost me almost £2,000. This year it has happened again and I am wondering if I am wasting my money.
I was therefore wondering about a digital piano as a replacement. I am not a great pianist and never will be but I play every night around an hour because I enjoy it. At 74 I am starting to have problems with arthritic fingers especially on my right hand.
My questions are, do digital pianos suffer from damp the way my upright does, and I realise that a fully weighted keyboard is going to feel so much better for me being used to my piano.
Also it is very difficult living in Durham as I do, to find a piano retailer particularly as I have no transport at all and rely entirely on buses.
I see that you recommend a Gewa UP 365 and wonder if that would be suitable for me or whether you would advise a different model given the problems I outlined above.
I am considering rent to buy.
Reply/ Dear Meg
Sorry to hear about the problems you’ve been having.
Digital pianos don’t suffer from damp. This is because
there are no wooden parts or felts in the key mechanisms.
The Gewa UP365 is a really nice piano and is the one
I recommend for you.
It has a Steinway sound and a responsive fully-weighted
key touch that feels very close to playing a real piano…
so you’d get on well with this.
It’s also available on the Rent to Buy programme.
You can also plug in headphones if you wish.
Another advantage of a digital piano is that it’s
always in tune and never requires maintenance.
Yours pianistically

“Why Do UK Pianos’ Prices Appear More Expensive?”
Most price quotes online are from retailers based in Germany.
Unfortunately, we’re not able to match their prices.
You might want to consider the following though.
If you do decide to buy from us, then you get:
A 5 year UK home warranty
Dealers outside the UK don’t offer a UK warranty.
If the piano develops a fault, then you’d have
to send it back to Germany to get it repaired.
The UK Pianos guarantee is for 5 years and covers
all parts, labour and unlimited visits to your home
if anything needs fixing.
A UK plug
We provide all Gewa pianos with a 3-pin UK adapter.
German sellers provide a 2-pin adapter because
the Gewa pianos they sell are made for the
German market.
Buying from outside the UK has the following disadvantages:
VAT, Haulage and customs charges:
You might be charged an extra fee for haulage if you buy from
outside the UK. There’s also a customs charge and VAT to
pay after the piano has been delivered to you.
This is sent separately by HMRC. We pay this on every
piano we import from Germany (it’s about £80 for
the customs fee plus 20% VAT).
Exchange rate:
I’ve had customers inform me that the price they
paid for a piano from European sites was more than
the price quoted on their website – often
considerably more. This is due to the EUR/GBP
exchange rate at the time of order.
No insurance:
The piano will not be insured whilst in transit
from Germany.
I do understand if you’re shopping around
for the best price. But I think that our offer
is more valuable because of the advantages
and peace of mind, Graham Howard, UK Pianos

“The sound is gorgeous and so realistic”
Dear Graham,
Thank you so much for delivering my GEWA UP365 Digital Piano on Wednesday 13th December. You and your wife had already had a long day by then, but you assembled the piano quickly and efficiently and we had some great conversations as we went along, including the whole issue of musical plagiarism. Your swift assembly of the GEWA UP365 even meant that I had time to pop to the pub to watch the second half of the Newcastle United for A C Milan Champions League match, but that did not end well for the Magpies.
Your advice about which digital piano to buy has proved spot on. I had asked you for your recommendation for a digital piano that sound most like an acoustic piano, which has a light and responsive touch and which does not have all the “bells and whistles” as you like to describe features such as built-in rhythms and dozens of different sound effects. You recommended the GEWA UP365 and I trusted your opinion even though I had not heard the piano’s sound at that point. You were so right. It is outstanding. As you told me, GEWA have sampled a Steinway grand piano for their digital pianos, and you can hear it too. The sound is gorgeous and so realistic. The GEWA UP365 also has a very light touch, and this suits the faster passages of jazz piano that I sometimes play eg stride piano in the Fats Waller, James P Johnson style. The GEWA UP365 you sold to me is a nice looking piano too and not that bulky, it takes up less space than I thought it would. The adjustable stool is comfortable too and I’d also like to thank you for giving me the Hadley headphones free of charge, they are comfortable and clearly of a good quality too. You had also discounted the GEWA UP365 as it had been a display piano at the Enfield showroom. So, GEWA UP365 digital piano, stool, headphones, delivery and assembly all for £1998 is a very good deal indeed. I give you 100%, 10 out of 10 and five stars for service. I am glad that you enjoyed your night at the hotel in Morpeth and that you had time to look round our fine town the next morning too. Perhaps you could relocate UK Pianos up this way ! People are pouring into Morpeth from other parts of the country and it is of course driving up the property prices.
Thanks again for your excellent service, I would recommend UK Pianos to anyone seeking to invest in the king and queen of musical instruments, whether acoustic or digital. What Graham does not know about pianos could be written on the back of a postage stamp it seems. Great customer service and long may it continue.
I hope you like the painted tile I gave you and Sev as a little thank you gift.
best wishes,
A Gilmour, Northumberland
