Questions
Hi Graham
Thanks for access to your books and all the advice.
I wondered if you had tried the Roland RP107 yet, and if so how you feel it compares to the BW1? I am interested in buying something in the up-to-£1000 bracket, so not swayed by the difference in price, but would be interested in an expert’s view on a new model like the RP107.
Thanks in advance for your advice.
Reply/ Dear Russell
The Roland RP107 has a fully-weighted key touch
which feels similar to a real piano, so it passes
the most important requirement.
However, the speakers are small (only 2 x 8 watts).
This results in a thin sound that doesn’t have
much depth of tone or resonance. Its sustain
is also limited… the notes die away too quickly.
The Broadway BW1 is a nicer piano all round.
It has a lovely warm, natural, full tone.
The key touch is also fully-weighted and graded,
with an ivory feel.
It also feels smooth and responsive under the fingers,
just like a real acoustic piano.
The Broadway is my first choice out of all pianos
costing under £1000.
Yours pianistically
Graham Howard
