Yamaha Arius Digital Piano Model YDP-S35
Questions
Hi Graham,
Thank you for your email, indeed I have doubts, and if you can address them I would be grateful.
I’m buying a used Yamaha YDP S31 on eBay. I have a limited budget but I wanted to start with a digital piano that would enable a reasonable learning experience for my 9 and 14 year old kids while also not taking too much space as we live in a small flat.
The piano will be delivered this Saturday, what do I have to look for to see if it is in good condition and that it will last for at least a couple of years?
Hi Aline
The YDP-S31 is an older model (current version is the YDP-S35).
I don’t recommend buying this piano.
It only has a weighted key touch, not fully-weighted,
which is what’s necessary for learning on.
What’s more, the speakers are really small, which
gives it a thin, tinny sound with limited resonance.
Also, it only has 3 dynamic levels, so you’re not able
to get much out of it musically.
I’m not sure how much it’s going for, but I would
like to recommend for you a brand new piano.
The Hadley D10.
For its price, the Hadley D10 is the most
realistic piano I’ve played on…
There’s nothing else that comes close to its
fully-weighted key feel and authentic sound.
I recommend this piano for your children to learn
and progress on right up to an intermediate level.
You can see it here
You can also get it on rent-to-own for a monthly payment,
Yours pianistically
