Realistic new
Piano Resonance
The HP107’s incredible
new Piano Resonance suite reproduces the rich resonance sounds of a
grand piano, responding to every touch of the player’s fingers, and
delivering Roland’s most authentic and expressive piano nuances
yet. The velocity-sensitive Key Off Resonance re-creates the
delicate sound of the damper touching the strings upon key release,
and replicates the residual reverberation in the soundboard and
cabinet. The String Resonance feature accurately re-creates the
same subtle and varied sympathetic string vibration as on an
acoustic piano when a key is pressed while other keys are already
being held down. Damper Resonance reproduces the “free vibration”
sound in the strings when playing an acoustic piano with the damper
pedal pressed. It also simulates the sudden expansiveness of sound
created when you press the damper after hitting a note. This is as
realistic as it gets.
All-enveloping
Grand Sound
The HP107’s powerful
new Grand Sound speaker system surrounds you with gorgeous grand
piano sound. Dynamic tweeters on top of the cabinet and full range
speakers in enclosures under the keyboard deliver the immersive
depth and exceptional presence of an acoustic concert grand. The
higher tones seem to come from above you and lower tones from below
you. It’s breathtaking! And it’s perfectly balanced from the
listener’s position as well.
Grand Space:
magical 3D sound
At the touch of a
button, suddenly the sound takes on a three-dimensional depth and
presence, as if it were coming from somewhere farther in front of
you. That’s the magic of Roland’s all-new Grand Space feature,
which adds richness and a gorgeous grand piano resonance to your
playing. This function is just as amazing through headphones,
making it seem as if the sound is coming from somewhere beyond
them—like from the long soundboard of an acoustic grand. You have
to experience it to believe it!

128-voice
polyphony
The HP107 delivers
128-voice polyphony so you never need to worry about note cutoffs,
even on fast passages pedal.
The expressive
touch of an acoustic grand
All three models in
the HP-Series incorporate one of Roland’s acclaimed Progressive
Hammer-Action Keyboards, for the natural touch and playing
performance of an acoustic grand piano. The keyboards use real
hammers rather than springs, providing a lighter touch in the upper
range, a heavier touch in the lower range, lighter resistance when
playing pianissimo, heavier resistance when playing fortissimo, and
a vast touch difference between pianissimo and fortissimo—exactly
like an acoustic grand. The Progressive Hammer-Action Keyboard with
Escapement (HP107 only) even reproduces the escapement
characteristics of a grand piano, with the same slight “click”
feel. The HP-Series will faithfully respond to each delicate nuance
of your fingers.
Keyboard
customize features
The keyboard offers a
number of keytouch adjustment features for greater expression. With
the Touch control, you can customize the key touch (Light, Medium,
Heavy, or Fixed) on any model in the HP-Series to suit your finger
strength and playing style. On the HP107, you can also use the
Hammer control to adjust the hammer response, re-creating the
expressive, slightly slower hammer stroke and delay in timing and
sound that are characteristic of a grand piano when played
softly.

Impressive
harmony with Dynamic Emphasis
This feature,
employing advanced DSP technology, instantly enhances the lower and
upper range of the piano sounds. The high and low notes become more
clearly delineated, and each note of the harmony stands out crisply
and powerfully, for richer tones, sweeter harmony, and dynamic
sound that you can feel as you play.
Meticulously
crafted, designed for convenience
The HP-Series’
cabinets were carefully designed with the little details in mind.
Their elegant, eye-catching mahogany finish and keyboard covers
make them a welcome addition to every interior. And with a large,
adjustable music rest with handy music clips, and a control panel
slanted for ease of operation, they’re also convenient and easier
to play. Plus, since they have no protruding power cord in back,
they are flatter and more compact. The new HP-Series is the perfect
balance of beauty and functionality.
Easy-access
jacks and headphone hook
The HP107’s two
headphone jacks, MIDI In and Out jacks, and USB ports are
conveniently positioned on the front of the instrument for easy
access. (Input and Output jacks are in back.)
Instant
ensembles with Acoustic Layering
With the HP107, you
can layer on top of the piano tone one of four different tones
(strings, choir, etc.) specially selected to sound great with the
piano. Whatever acoustic layer you choose, you’ll be amazed at the
depth and rich, impressive sound you can produce. Greater power of
expression is just a button touch away.
Accent
Pedal for rousing performances
The HP107’s assignable
Accent Pedal function lets you add exciting highlights to your
music to greatly widen your range of expression. With both hands
playing naturally, just press the center pedal for instant Acoustic
Layering. Or set it to add harmony played one octave higher. You
can use it to temporarily increase the volume and to add a
brilliant climax to the music while the pedal is pressed. Dynamic
performances have never been so easy.
Practice with
the internal songs
The HP107 offers 68
popular internal practice songs, so you can start playing the day
you bring it home. These songs are ideal for piano practice. You
can listen to them, change their tempo, or mute either hand’s part
and play along. The HP107 also come with Roland’s 60 Classical
Piano Masterpieces music book, containing the scores of most of the
internal songs. Roland’s 60 Classical Piano Masterpieces music
book, containing the scores of most of the internal songs. (HP101
has 65 internal songs for playback only.)
A
variety of instrument tones
You can choose from 36
realistic instrument tones on the HP107, such as fabulous piano,
electric piano, harpsichord, organ, strings and many others—plus an
additional 4 tones exclusive to Acoustic Layering. For more
performance fun, select a different instrument for each hand with
the Split function, or combine two sounds for Dual mode
play.
Metronome and
2-track recorder
All three models in
the HP-Series have a metronome function to help you develop a sense
of rhythm and timing. On the HP107, there is also a 2-track
recorder, so you can record your performances and play them back to
check on your progress as you improve.
USB
connectivity
You can connect your
HP107 piano to your computer via USB to save or play back
performance data in real time. (USB-MIDI only.)
Appealing new
Demo function
The advanced Demo
function lets you switch the Piano Resonance, Grand Space, and many
other onboard functions on/off while the dedicated demo phrases
play, so you can immediately hear how each function sounds—and
discover just how powerful and expressive the new HP-Series really
is.
