“I am happy to spend around £2000 on a piano for my son,
what about the RD700NX?”
Hi Graham,
You guide was so helpful – let me thank you and congratulate you.
I notice you explain that portable pianos have less space for speakers so don’t sound as good. And I cannot see any scoring highly.
I am happy to spend around £2000 on a piano for my son (although I would prefer to spend less) – who is 19 and away at College. He doesn’t have much space in his room so a stage / portable piano seems best. He is doing Medicine and will be continually moving every year for the next 5 years so a bulky piano is out of the question.
I have been looking at the Roland RD700NX, but wonder the following:
1. Am I paying for a lot of stage electrics that will never be used – he won’t be going on stage with it?
2. Can you recommend something more appropriate?
3. Would adding speaker to this improve the sound and be a better option – and if so are there specific speakers
you would recommend?
You very kind help is much appreciated. I shall look forward to hearing back from you – and thanks.
Cheers,
Martin.
Reply/ Hi Martin
The Roland RD700NX is a lovely piano. One of the best.
But it doesn’t have speakers. This might be inconvenient
for your son.
The Roland FP-7F would be better for him.
This piano is similar, but has the built-in speakers.
For the price, there’s nothing better.
