Grand pianos last for a lifetime, if you look after them (i.e. have them regularly tuned and keep them away from heat sources). If a used grand piano is less than 30 years old then you can normally expect it to be in a reasonably good condition, “Graham Howard, Piano Advisor”

Questions/
My stay in London was initially temporary, making the piano rental a practical choice. However, as my stay is becoming permanent, I am now interested in upgrading to a baby grand piano and have been awaiting availability.
I am currently not in the UK, so I apologise for not being able to call. Please let me know what options are currently available. I appreciate your patience and understanding and am ready to settle the missed payments as soon as possible.
Reply/ Dear Isabel
We have a grand piano available at the moment in polished black.
It’s a Classenti AG3, about 7 years old. The piano is in excellent condition.
It’s about a foot longer than the average baby grand.
The advantage of the extra length is a vast improvement
in tone quality… this is due mostly to the longer strings,
especially in the bass and central areas of the keyboard.
It’s key mechanism is responsive and capable of
handling even the most technical pieces.
Let me know if you are interested in this.
Yours pianistically

“Please can you recommend a grand piano that plays itself”
The acoustic grand pianos we have are probably too long
to fit into the lift.
Once we receive your photo, then we’ll know for sure.
Alternatively, we have the following digital baby grand pianos:
Kurzweil MPG100 and Broadway MK11.
These are digital versions of the real thing, so they look, play
and sound almost the same.
You can also hook them up to extra speakers for even more volume,
or play with headphones, adjust the volume, connect to the computer
and play different sounds such as organ, harpsichord, strings etc.
They don’t need any tuning or maintenance, so there are cost
savings in the long run.
I recommend these two (they will both fit into the lift):
Kurzweil MPG100 (this is a brand new piano)
Price is £5,995, rental is £195 per month.
Broadway MK11 (this is a second-hand piano)
Price is £10,995, rental is £285 per month.
The Kurzweil MPG100 is a compact digital baby grand that’s
been sampled on a Steinway grand.
It has fully-weighted keys, so the feel is very close to a real grand.
It’s sounds is warm with good sustain.
It can play songs on its own, or can be played as a normal piano.
You can see it here
The Broadway MK11 has a longer cabinet than the Kurzweil.
It has larger speakers, making the sound fuller and more resonant
and has over 1200 built-in songs and pieces.
It’s a more technically advanced piano than the Kurzweil,
as the keys move up and down on their own when on self-play mode.
You can see it here
