“Should I change my old CVP for the new CVP609?”
Graham,
Great guide on the pianos I wish this was available ten years ago when I bought my top of the range at the time
Yamaha Clavinova (CVP-209) which has been great. How much has the sound\touch improved on the newer models
(I tried a 409 once and found the key depth horrible to play on compared to the 2x series, should I consider
changing it for the new Yamaha 609?, how long are these units supposed to last?
I have only had two faults on it in ten years which have both been fixed perfectly one been a Yamaha design fault
with the original keyboard. Potentially I would look at a silent Disklavier, as I believe this gives me what the
Clavinova offers with a real string piano and would be interested to hear your take on it.
Regards,
Phil

The newer model, CVP609, is improved.
It has the new linear graded hammer action.
This mimics the gradual decrease in key weight
as you ascend the keyboard. It feels smoother
to play for sure.
The CVP609’s key touch is also more responsive.
You can really get stuck into the dynamics
without having to force out the notes.
And the sound is also fuller with more resonance.

If you prefer the real acoustic piano mechanism
then a SILENT piano would be the best option for
you…
Yamaha do a range of them. Also Classenti.
We don’t sell the Yamaha SILENT range, but we
do sell the Classenti.
