True-to-life sound
The Yamaha P70 has an amazingly realistic sound quality usually only found in more expensive models. It features an array of commonly used sounds such as grand pianos, electric pianos, organs, harpsichords, vibraphones, and strings. Using Yamaha’s own AWM stereo sampling, sounds were recorded directly from a variety of instruments. Each voice is recorded in stereo, and thus faithfully replicates the sound and warmth of the original instrument.
Graded Hammer Standard keyboard
Responsive piano action is at your fingertips with the new Graded Hammer Standard keyboard. Yamaha’s GHS keyboard recreates the feel of a grand piano. This allows you seamless transition from digital practice to acoustic performance. The Yamaha P70 not only duplicates the sound of a real piano, it emulates the feel and action as well.
Half (continuous) pedaling capability
Rather than simply switching sustain ON or OFF, the P70 responds to 127 levels of pedal depth. This allows for a more authentic piano performance by emulating the fluid control a pianist has over the damper pedal. Half pedaling is just one more example of Yamaha’s dedication to its acoustic piano heritage.
Built-in stereo speaker system
Yamaha’s integrated speaker system makes bulky powered speakers a thing of the past. The P-Series uses highly efficient amplifiers that pack more sound into a lighter digital piano. With 6 watts per channel, these keyboards are ready to go whenever you are.

Elegant design
While the sound quality of the P70 captivates, it also compels with its impressive visual design. Lightweight construction, curved corners, and built- in speakers make the P70 look stunning in virtually any setting. Choose from either black or silver to complement your own personal style.
Optional matching stand
Complement your Yamaha P-70 with an attractive stand designed to match the look and feel of this fine product. Match your choice of colors with either the Yamaha L-70 or the Yamaha L-70S.

Reviews
“Generally the Yamaha P70 seems quite good but I thought it was a bit of a weakness that there wasn’t really a proper jack on the back of the instrument to go into an amplifier, should it be needed. When using an adaptor out of the headphone socket on the front into the cable to the amp, it really sticks out quite a bit on the front and could be knocked into quite easily. After all it is called a stage piano, so it wouldn’t be surprising to need an amplifier. I was just interested to see if there was any discussion on this. Most of the pianos in this sort of range only have speakers of similar power. For a more serious stage piano, one would probably only look for one to be used with an amplifier, not with integrated speakers but these are all much heavier and more expensive. ”

Hi Graham,
“I am looking for a new digital because the stage piano I’m currently using (a Yamaha P70) has an unfortunate ‘clunk’ when you release the keys – which when the volume is at its highest volume you can’t hear, however because I live in an apartment I usually play with the volume turned down and it’s driving me crazy.
I should have my new CLP340 by the end of September – I’m very excited – so I’ve been struggling through the annoyance of the clunking keys with the knowledge that I’ll have a wonderful new digital piano to play in a couple of months.”
