“I think that even if it was for an older child or adult, it is an excellent choice”
We just purchased for $200 a used P70 for our almost 5 year old daughter to practice. After owning it for 3 days I believe it is an excellent choice for the price and our current use. Some reviews mentioned that there is thumping on the keys (graded hammer standard) which I noticed immediately, however, remember it is a practice piano. Yes a graded hammer effect would have been better but the ghs is okay for now. Also note that this is a basic digital piano with few features–I especially like the headphone jack.
I think that even if it was for an older child or adult, it is an excellent choice because who wants to invest $1,000 or more into a really good digital or acoustic piano, until real interest develops. I hope that in a year that I have the problem of purchasing a really nice piano for my daughter.
One other thing that made our choice easy was that we live in a small house and there really isn’t that much room for an upright piano–we have a lot of narrow stairs as well. The Yamaha P70 doesn’t take up too much room and we could stand it up and store it in a closet (if we had one).

“What bothers me a little is the sound that the keys make”
I bought a 2 year old Yamaha P70. The touch sensitivity is alright. What bothers me a little is the sound that the keys make, but since I’m playing with headphones that’s not too bad. I think it was the best choice given the small budget I was willing to pay.

“I was deeply disappointed with the noisiness of the keys”
I got the opportunity to take a Yamaha P70 out for a spin. I was deeply disappointed with the noisiness of the keys, and the plasticky feel of the keys. (I followed your suggestion about turning down the volume and playing the keys.) This was an epiphany for me, since I thought I would not be as finicky as I seem to be
